If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer following exposure to the pesticide Roundup, you may be entitled to compensation.
Recently a connection has been shown between exposure to Roundup and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, as well as other serious injuries. Roundup is one of the most widely used herbicides in the United States with billions of pounds of the commercial chemical applied to crops each year.
A link has been indicated between dermal (skin) and inhalation (breathing) exposures and the development of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, including but not limited to, diffuse large B-cell Lymphoma (DLBCL), follicular lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), mantle cell lymphoma and cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL).
Why Is It Dangerous?
The active ingredient in Roundup is glyphosate, a chemical that has been proven to enhance the damaging effects of other toxins and chemicals in the body by disrupting normal body function and inducing disease. Glyphosate is said to attack beneficial bacteria in the human body, thus allowing pathogens to grow and take over and resulting in the contraction of various forms of blood cancers such as non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Symptoms may include:
- Chest pain
- Enlarged lymph nodes
- Shortness of breath
- Swelling of abdomen
- Weight loss
In 2015, the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer announced in their findings that Roundup is probably carcinogenic. It is suspected that Monsanto, the manufacturer of Roundup, has known of the risks associated with exposure to its products since the early 1980s.
Who May Be Eligible for Compensation?
Farm workers are at the greatest risk of injury caused by dermal or inhalation exposure to Roundup. However, anyone who has used Roundup for commercial or residential use has also been exposed to significant health risks.
If you have been exposed to dermal or inhalation exposure to Roundup and have developed non-Hodgkin's lymphoma or another related injury, you may be eligible for compensation. To learn more, call our office at (205) 881-0555 for a free consultation or contact us using the form below.
